Country Crock Spread Review

Make It Yours Cookies with Country Crock Spread Review

I got a coupon from Country Crock and Influenster to try their Country Crock Spread, so I decided to make my own version of Make It Yours Cookies using Strawberry Shortcake M&Ms and decorative sprinkles for a Springtime treat! Everyone absolutely loved the cookies and begged for more! I will be buying more of those M&Ms because they make awesome cookies. And using Country Crock Spread made them light and chewy, not flattened out like some spreads do. Country Crock Spread has a taste that’s awesome on my biscuits and rolls, and it works well in baked goods as well. I love that they make a larger tub so I have plenty for baking. You can find the original recipe for Make It Yours Cookies on the Country Crock website, or just check it out below:

Make It Yours Cookies

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1 cup Country Crock® Spread

2/3 cup granulated sugar

2/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

1 egg

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

1 cup Strawberry Shortcake M&Ms

1 container decorative colored sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°. Grease baking sheets; set aside.

  2. Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in medium bowl; set aside.

  3. Beat Country Crock® Spread with sugars until light and fluffy in large bowl with electric mixer, about 5 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla, scraping sides occasionally. Gradually beat in flour mixture until blended. Stir in 1 cup Strawberry Shortcake M&Ms and 1 container decorative colored sprinkles. Drop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.

  4. Bake 10 minutes or until golden. Let stand 2 minutes on wire rack; remove from sheets and cool completely.

Rend (Washington, Dead City Book 2) by Brian Parker

Rend by Brian Parker

Rend

This is Book two of a three book series. If you have not read Gnash (Book 1) yet, I strongly encourage you to read it first. Boo two, Rend, can be read alone, but the story continues from Book one and Gnash was such a great read that I’d hate for you to miss out! The next portion is a spoiler if you haven’t read Gnash. In Gnash, a young couple in the Washington DC area are thrust full force into a nightmare as a terrorist group does the unthinkable and unleashes a combination viral and bacterial attack on the Pentagon. Grayson has travelled to Colorado and so he is away from his girlfriend Emory when the attack begins. A similar attack happens where Grayson is and Gnash takes us through the initial reaction to the attack and brings both Grayson and Emory through their stories as they deal with this horror from different points of view. Rend begins as Retired CIA operative Asher Hawke, one of the characters from Gnash, is called to assist in the removal of the country’s most precious documents from inside the Wall, an enclosed area that includes Washington, DC, as well as surrounding areas. The Wall was constructed to keep the remaining undead from the rest of the county in one secure place. The Wall has been guarded by the military, but there are areas where one military branch’s coverage ends and the other military branch begins- an unprotected area- that makes it easy for outsiders to dump things they don’t want found and for thieves to breach the Wall to get to the valuables left behind when the area was abandoned after being bombed. Again, Brian Parker manages to put us right in the hotseat, squirming more than once as the undead seem to be able to communicate and rally against Asher and his unit. The pace is quick and the addition of the military angle make this a story that will appeal to many. I can’t wait until his next book is out!

If I Run by Terri Blackstock Review

If I Run

If I Run by Terri Blackstock

Casey Cox is in trouble. Her best friend is dead and all the evidence points to her. And she already has made a name for herself after making accusations about her father’s death. She has nowhere to turn so she runs. She’s got some money and she knows she has to be careful, so she makes an elaborate plan to keep from being discovered.

Dylan Roberts is a Vet, suffering from PTSD and thought to be pretty much worthless in the police field he wants to pursue. When Dylan is asked to follow up on a trail to find Casey Cox he figures it’s a way to get in the backdoor and agrees to pick up Casey. But she’s elusive and gets away before he can grab her. Then he starts to question details and suddenly he’s trying to help Casey prove her innocence rather than catch her like he was hired to do. This may ruin his chances at a career in police work but he can’t let an innocent girl be railroaded for something she didn’t do, can he?

If I Run is an excellent story that combines drama and suspense as it weaves its way from beginning to end. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a plot with a few twists to keep you on your toes.

8 Simple Tools for Raising Great Kids By Dr. Todd Cartmell

8 Simple Rules

8 Simple Tools for Raising Great Kids

By Dr. Todd Cartmell

I’ve raised 3 kids and I’m now raising my grandchild. I find that there are sometimes issues that I have trouble dealing with and I need some fresh perspective. I found a book called  8 Simple Tools for Raising Great Kids by Dr. Todd Cartmell and thought maybe I could get some hints from it.  Dr. Cartmell is a clinical child psychologist who has written a number of books on parenting. I could tell from the start that it was a no nonsense book with plenty of good information in it. The book is laid out in chapter form with a number of common issues, each with chapters relevant to that issue. For instance, the first issue, or tool, is Talking. The chapters are Control Your Volume Button, If Unsure Press the Pause Button, Start With You, etc. I found the suggestions to be easy to understand and apply. As a matter of fact, I found that there were many tools that are useful in my relationship with my husband as well. I have been taking my time with this book, as it has a lot to offer but I think is best accomplished over time rather than in a rush.  Dr. Cartmell brings all of this to us in as simple of terms as possible so that it’s easy to relate and put to use the tools that he proposes. The goal is to raise well behaved children in a positive way, creating a home environment that is positive and a relationship that is healthy. It is also faith based but not in an in-your-face kind of way. I think the extra attention to suggestions based on Christian values and how to accomplish them is welcome.

I was sent a Treat VoxBox from Influenster free for the purpose of review. The following products were included in the box.

YumVs

One of the goodies in my Influenster Treat VoxBox was a sample pack of Yum-Vs Probiotic with Prebiotic Fiber. Yum-Vs make it easy for you to get your kids on board with healthy probiotics, vitamins, and supplements by making them tasty and fun to eat. I was sent White Chocolate flavored Yum-V Probiotic Bears. Each bear is the size of a gummy bear and they taste like a piece of white chocolate. There’s no gritty, chalky taste at all! They are a tasty way for kids to get that healthy bacteria in their tummies that we all need without having your child fuss about taking yucky pills. I love that Yum-V has a whole selection of kid oriented vitamins that are unique and flavorful. These were sent complimentary of Influenster for testing purposes. I got Hills Bros Cappuccino in packets AND Kcups for free from Influenster in exchange for reviewing. I got English Toffee in the packets. I have always been partial to that flavor and Hills Bros satisfied my craving. It’s smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet to made me feel indulged! I’m in Cappuccino heaven!! My hubby and I enjoy having a cup of Hills Bros Cappuccino in the evening when things settle down. He prefers French Vanilla but I love this English Toffee.  Now I can hardly wait to go get more! #contest #CozyCapp @influenster #treatvoxbox

Gnash by Brian Parker

I thought this was a very well thought out plot. This book isn’t just another zombie rip off story, but a story told from a whole new viewpoint. The story begins with a couple, Grayson and Emory, who end up separated by miles when a terrorist organization unleashes a combination of attacks against America and the unthinkable happens. Each fearing the other one dead, they look for ways to deal with their new reality, one that includes fighting for their lives while zombies are taking over everywhere. This story combines the sci-fi zombie angle with well written military maneuvering and the idea that a group could be out there planning this right now. My skin crawled at times – I can’t wait to read the next one!
