I have a number of electronics that require batteries. It can make me crazy trying to keep up on all of the batteries to keep my devices running. Most of the batteries needed are double A batteries and I use the rechargeable batteries for a lot of my use. They cost a bit more to begin with, but in the long run they are cheaper than regular batteries and can be charged and used over and over again. This is cleaner for the environment and easier for me to deal with. I bought a package of Xtech AA Ultra High-Capacity 3100mah Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries from Amazon because my batteries were getting old. I wanted to try them and see if they worked better than my old batteries. These batteries are advertised to be rechargeable for up to 1,000 times and memory free, so if I charge them sooner than they need to be charged, it won’t affect their ability to work until they’re totally discharged the next time. I don’t know if they had any charge in them or not because I automatically charge my batteries before using. But I used them in my camera and left it to record to see how well they worked and they seem to be working with no problem. I can’t vouch for the 3100mAh rating one way or the other, but I am satisfied with how they are working for me.

I have been unable to walk very much because I have plantar fasciitis and it is very painful. I’ve tried injections and even purchased very expensive orthotics but I still get plantar fasciitis from time to time. Lately, I’ve noticed that I also have heel pain. I’ve been unable to get to the foot doctor to see what is going on. So I ordered a set of Plantar Fasciitis Sleeves PLUS Silicone Gel Heel Comforters from Armstrong Amerika. I got a set of black compression sleeves that have just the right amount of compression to give support and comfort without being overly tight or uncomfortable. They are comfortable to walk in, which is not always the case with compression sleeves that end under your arches. I can wear these and not be uncomfortable because my feet are too hot. Along with the compression sleeves are a set of gel heel comforters. These are made of a soft, supple silicone and have holes all over them for breathability. Again, I don’t have to worry about my feet getting too hot- I wore these when it was mid 80’s and they felt great. Even better, they really did sooth my sore heels, even when I was at rest. I love that these sets are interchangeable and totally washable. I can toss them in my suitcase when I go on my vacation next month and know that my feet will be comfortable!

With June comes birthdays, an anniversary, and for this year, a graduation. I am so proud of my grandson and I was very excited that he was about to graduate. What could I give him that he would take with him as he graduated? I found the perfect gift- an elegant black and silver cross and chain. This cross has an 18 inch silver chain and is a silver cross with a black accent cross on top. The chain is made of stainless steel so I know it won’t turn his neck green. and the length is perfect for a guy or even for a lady. I actually tried it on so that I could take a couple of pictures, as I didn’t want him to see it before his graduation day. But he was so grateful for the gift and for it being something he could wear with his cap and gown. It felt good knowing he was able to wear something that represented his faith in Christ. I love the workmanship that went into this cross- it’s sure to be a favorite piece of jewelry for him for years to come!

I have really enjoyed reading My Mother’s Quilts by Ramona Richards. It’s a book of devotions centered around the author’s mother’s quilts and the stories behind them. Each devotion has a scripture reference, a quilt pattern with a color picture included, and a prayer starter. The stories were rich in history, showcasing colorful patterns of the quilts that had been handmade for centuries by her mother, grandmother, and other family members. Each quilt brought out a lesson based on scripture that would carry her faith forward and honor the memories of her mother and grandmother. She often wove historical references into the devotions, such as including a quilt that had been designed and pieced in the 1840’s using a Carolina Lily as the design. The quilt had been buried during the Civil War to keep it protected from thieves. What had once been bright red and green was now rust and brown. The history had been passed down in her family and finally, the quilt was donated to a museum for safekeeping and to allow the story to continue. The biblical reference was Deuteronomy 4:9, which is a reminder to keep track of our past and repeat the stories often, lest they be forgotten in time. We are to share with our children and our children’s children. This lesson was brought home by sharing the quilt with the museum so that everyone who visited the museum could hear of its story and preserve it in the hearts of others.
Each devotion is written in such a way. A scripture reference, a devotion tied to a quilt, a picture of the quilt, and a prayer starter to tie it all together. Ms. Richards did a wonderful job with each of her devotions and the book is a pleasure to read from start to finish. It’s a wonderful way to relax and spend time with the Lord.
Win one of the quilts featured in #MyMothersQuilts by Ramona Richards. Also up for grabs: loads of other prizes including quilting hand warmers, coloring books, and 25 signed copies of Ramona’s book. Winners will be emailed after the contest ends on June 30, 2016.

I had a great skin care facial brush that I loved but the battery went bad and wasn’t replaceable. I missed having the brush for my skin because it really made my skin soft. I have been looking at buying a new brush for a while but hadn’t found one I was ready to order. I was offered a PRO 4 in 1 Skin Care Facial Brush from Xtech for free in exchange for an unbiased review. I ordered one and here’s what I found:
There are 4 attachments:
a small bristle brush for facial cleaning and exfoliation,
a large bristle brush for use on the body,
a small sponge for massaging in your favorite lotion,
and a small pumice stone for your feet.
The description says the pumice is for pore cleaning but I wouldn’t even attempt to use it on my face. I love the variety of attachments. My other brush only had 2. The brush is also waterproof, so I can use it in the shower.
The battery cover is extremely difficult to remove. I have a hard time with one hand as it is, but this was really tight! And I’m surprised that it needs 4 batteries. It has less power than I would have expected.
All in all, I found the PRO 4 in 1 Skin Care Facial Brush from Xtech to be a good buy for the price.

I got these Dimmable LED String Lights from Cymas at a discount in exchange for an unbiased review. I’ve had fun playing around with them ever since. I call them Fairy Lights because they’re tiny little lights but they pack a pretty good amount of light. They are about 26 feet long and a total of 100 lights. They are on a copper wire so the lights can be bent and twisted in any shape or around any item you want lit. They are completely waterproof and safe for outdoor use, which is wonderful because I live in the Northwest. Note: the remote and adapter are NOT to be exposed to rain. I love that this set has the ability to flash at 6 different modes, like Christmas lights, and they will range from a very soft light to quite bright! There’s 10 brightness levels available! I love having it light up my pics of my parents so it draws attention when anyone comes in the front door. The Dimmable LED String Lights from Cymas are very versatile and can be rolled back up in between uses. I really like them!

Do you really want to know how well these work?
I know this will be TMI for some but the following review may make you a bit squeamish. If so, I apologize in advance. I have chronic constipation from medications that I am not able to do without. It’s troublesome at best and downright painful at worst. I also suffer from acid reflux which in turn makes me take even more medication. So my friend kept after me to try digestive enzymes to aid my system in breaking down and fully digesting This would supposedly help with gas, bloating, constipation, and a myriad of other intestinal issues. I really didn’t notice that much when I first began taking digestive enzymes and, honestly, I didn’t think the Digestive Enzymes from Dr Matthew were doing much for me either, until I stopped and realized I was unable to take my medications for constipation because I was having diarrhea. Okay, gross, I know, but this is what made me realize these capsules are doing what they’re supposed to do. And I can cut out taking 4 pills a day. And I don’t have to worry about what those pills might do to my system over time.
I take 1 pill twice a day, before a meal, and that’s all there is to it. The Digestive Enzymes from Dr Matthew are made from 18 enzymes and formulated to accelerate digestion so that food is broken down completely and nutrients are absorbed into the body instead of riding through without ever being broken down. I can’t believe how much better I am feeling now! I know, disclaimer: I got this product at a discount in exchange for an unbiased review. Well, I would gladly pay full price for this product- it’s that good!
The Bridge to Nowhere: Magemother Book 3 by Austin Bailey is the final in the Magemother series. I’ve enjoyed each of these books as they’ve come out and I would recommend them to anyone who likes an easy read but a well thought out plot and characters that make you feel like you should continue to follow them. I’m going to miss hearing what Brinley and her friends are up to! Not all books leave me not only satisfied but wanting at the same time. I think part of the reason I like these so much is that Austin Bailey has managed to make a realistic environment without making it so complicated that I have to back up and reread over and over just to figure out where the characters fit together and what the meanings of things are. I can’t wait to see what’s up his sleeve next! Oh, and if you are considering reading this book, again, it’s the 3rd in a very entertaining series. Read them all- you’ll be glad you did!
My daughter uses her phone when she’s driving and it worries me. She had a Bluetooth but lost it and she just hasn’t gotten a new one. So when Mpow offered their Streambot Bluetooth 4.0 Receiver at a reduced price in exchange for an unbiased review, I thought this would be the perfect thing for her.
The Mpow Streambot Bluetooth 4.0 Receiver is a hands free Bluetooth for use with your favorite device. You can actually connect 2 devices to it, so if you have 2 phone users or a phone and Ipod, you can connect them both! I love that because my husband is into music and this feature is a nice one for someone like him. I have to admit, I had a little bit of a problem understanding how to connect the Receiver, but thru trial and error, I got it going. It includes a noise isolator if your signal is scratchy or buzzes, but that wasn’t an issue for me. The receiver has double stick tape on the bottom so you can place it where it will be easily reached while driving. It has a very small blue light to show that it is powered on. The light is hard to see in the sunlight, but it keeps it from being distracting while driving at night. It is automatically connected and ready to go as soon as you start your car (provided the Bluetooth is still connected to your phone).
You can use the buttons on the side to advance forward or backward in your song list and get great stereo sound because you are using your car speakers. I like this because I have Bose speakers and I want to be able to get that clear, crisp sound. And if a call comes in simply click the large button to switch to the call. The side buttons become volume buttons for phone use. You can also use the receiver to make calls as long as your phone has voice capability. I tried this but didn’t have much luck, but I will report back later when I have more time to play with it.
I really like that all of the necessary cords and accessories were part of this set, including a dual car charger. The only drawback I found was that I had to run the cord to the front console for the charger, since my car is a few years old and didn’t put the charger in the center console box like new cars have, so there is a cord running to the charger, then to the Aux input, then to the receiver. All in all, this is a nice setup and I think my daughter will love it!
