Car Cache Purse Holder- review and giveaway!

I was recently invited to try out a Car Cache purse storage unit and I agreed to give it a whirl. I received the Car Cache very quickly and I was pleased with how well it was made. I chose black to match the interior of my car but it is also available in tan. The material used for the body of the unit is a good, sturdy mesh and the clips are metal rather than plastic. This made me feel that it could be trusted to hold up under the day to day usage I would be putting it through.

I took my Car Cache and the instructions for installing it out to my car. The instructions were pretty straight forward and there is also a video on their website for those who don’t do well with written instructions. It really only took a couple of minutes and I was ready to go! Here’s a picture of my Car Cache, installed and already holding my purse:

I noticed after a couple of times of opening and closing the console lid it didn’t want to close completely. The culprit seemed to be the clip that holds the 2 cords together, so I removed the clip and knotted the 2 cords together. This worked and I was back in business. This unit can be fit to most vehicles as long as they have headrests with 2 posts.

For anyone who doesn’t like their purses to lay on dirty, muddy floors, this device is a great answer. It’s also safe for keeping your purse close to you but out of reach of anyone who might try to reach in to grab it. Purse grabs are a growing concern and I think this product addresses that concern nicely.
There is no loss of space for either driver or passenger, as the Car Cache and its contents fit right behind the console. It’s also good for holding books, bags, whatever handheld items you want safely stored while you are driving. You still have access to anything placed in the Car Cache although, to be fair, it is a slight reach behind you to get into the Car Cache to retrieve something. But I love it and I am recommending it to anyone who is looking for a solution to a wet, tipped over purse or bag. This little gem can be found at

Now, for the fun part! If you’ve read this review and you like the idea of owning one of these Car Caches, how would you like to get one for free? Yes, I said free! Come back on Saturday, January 25th and enter via Rafflecopter for a chance to win your own Car Cache in the color you choose. Good luck!

Influenster sent me a packet of Puffs Plus Lotion tissues to try out in my Jolly Voxbox. It comes in a pack of 10 2-ply tissues, neatly wrapped in a plastic wrap with a recloseable flap on the front. I was immediately drawn to the light scent when I first used one of the tissues. It’s very soothing and fresh smelling. The tissues feel good on my skin and I can imagine how soothing they must be on raw, tender nasal areas. If you can feel good about using one of these tissues there, they’d work pretty well anywhere! And the cute little package tucks away in a purse, glove compartment, even a pocket! These little Puffs Plus Lotion Purse Packs are a keeper!

Are You Living Like the Resurrection Fern?

Are You Living Like the Resurrection Fern?.

Have you heard of the resurrection fern? Jackie shares a beautiful description of how this represents our life with illness.

“The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom, like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.” (Isaiah 35:1)
Have you ever heard of the Resurrection Fern? I hadn’t until a very dear friend wrote me and told me that I resemble one. After I read about this fern, I felt honored that she felt that way and wanted to do my best to live up to its meaning.

It seems that this fern holds fast to the oak tree for its very sustenance. Until it rains, this little fern turns brown, curls up , and is very nondescript. Then when it does rain, it unfurls into a vibrant, deep emerald green plant, basking in the rain.

How often do we feel more like the fern that is all shriveled up and brown? We all have days when we are dealing with unrelenting pain, frustration with our physicians, and inept doctor’s offices. Or we lose our patience with insurance companies who want to deny our medication.

Some days it just seems to be too much.

We’ve all been there. These are our wilderness and desert days that can be so dreary. Yet something very unusual can happen in the depth of our frustration.

God in myriad ways brushes our hearts and rains peace and hope upon us. We are made like the beautiful Resurrection Fern that reaches out its deep green tendrils and says that we can rise again from desolation to joyous living.

Refreshing ourselves in His Presence causes us to unfurl into a living, vibrant spirit that is not defined by our illness but by our soaking up His Presence.

Prayer: Dearest Lord, we look to You for sustenance. In our wilderness days, thank You that you don’t leave us there. Thank You for bringing newness of life when we wait on You. Help us to blossom even in the desert. Amen.

JollyVoxBox Review

I was delighted to be chosen to receive the Jolly VoxBox last month. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve dug into the box and pulled out a number of really great products to try out.

First I started with the Puffs Plus Lotion. This little purse pack holds 10 of the softest tissues I’ve ever used. Silky yet strong, they’re lightly scented and very gentle on inflamed noses. They easily fit in a purse, a glove compartment, even in your pocket. I’d give these a 10!

Next I tried the Rimmel London Show Off Lip Lacquer. Now I have to admit the color was not one I would have chosen for myself, but for reviewing purposes I tried it anyways. The color seems to have a good pigment so it lasts fairly well. I liked the smooth creamy texture and it made my lips feel hydrated. The only downside to the Show Off Lip Lacquer is that it doesn’t come in a long lasting formula, which I prefer.

I then tried out the NYC New York Color HD Color Trio Eye Shadow. The trio I got was Long Beach Sands. This color palette could easily go from day to night and work with most skin and hair color combinations. I like that it had an overlay that tells you which color is to be used for which area around the eye. Foolproof for those of us who don’t usually wear eye makeup or aren’t sure what is the best way to wear it. This is a super finely pressed shadow that goes on smoothly and stays in place. I love it!

After all of this work, it was time to treat myself. I reached for the box, yes, I said box of Skinny Cow Divine Filled Chocolates. The box holds 6 pouches, each with 3 pieces of delicious, delightful velvety milk chocolate filled with a luscious peanut butter crème. These were smaller than a standard size candy bar, but they were just the right amount for my sweet tooth and I didn’t feel guilty afterwards. I love that I got to sample one pouch, then I get to enjoy 5 more. Thanks, Influenster, mmm!

Now for some fun! I got a cute roll of Ducklings Mini Rolls to play with. Now I haven’t done much crafting with Duck Tape so I had to get some expert help from my assistant. She gathered the sample roll plus some of her own supply of tape and showed me just how easy it is to create a bracelet using the Ducklings Mini Roll. She’s made little purses and flowers, and decorated her Itouch, notebooks, and other things she uses on a daily basis. Ducklings Mini Roll tapes are colorful, fun, and long lasting. They’re great for so many applications. I highly recommend them!

I like extra hot coffee and they will make it extra hot- most places don’t. My faves? Chai Tea Latte and Cinnamon Dolce. Mmmm, I gotta go now- Starbucks is calling!
