King’s Heart on DVD

I received a DVD of King’s Heart courtesy of Family Christian for the purpose of review. The following comments are my own and not influenced by Family Christian or anyone else.

The video King’s Heart was very short – approximately 22 minutes in length. It is a story about a boy, played by Jason Dworakwho was training for a big football game. Small in stature, his father, played by Sean M. Grady, wanted him to be big in heart and take on others twice his size. He didn’t have much faith in what his dad was trying to teach him and doubts crept in.

Right in the middle of preparing for the game, his dad passed away unexpectedly. This left him wondering how to go on with the game or if he could even do so. Some of his family voiced doubts and thought he should be in mourning. His aunt was very vocal- expressing that it would be extremely disrespectful to play in a football game right after his father had passed away. But his uncle reminded him of what his father had taught him and then told him how his father had once been that small player and had successfully taken on  players that were twice his size. His uncle believing in him and reminding him how much his dad believed in him gave him the King’s Heart and the ability to compete in the big game. The storyline was a good one, but the video ended much sooner than expected, leaving me wanting more. This is not a big production with professional sound and video so the sound gets very quiet at times and the camera did some strange things that didn’t really seem to match what was going on in the story. However, the actors portrayed their characters very well and I found myself wondering how I would react in the same situation.
