My trip to Family Christian- with a giveaway!
I had the most fun afternoon with my grand daughter yesterday! We went on a girlie day shopping trip. We shopped for shoes, picked up some school supplies, and for the Grand Finale, I got to take her on her first trip to a Family Christian Store. The nearest Family Christian is about 40 minutes away and I usually stop there when I am already in the area. She is usually in school when I go so this was a real treat for both of us!
So many things, so little time! We spent a lot of time in the book section, as well as the DVD section. I had a couple of titles I was interested in and I was happy to find out they have a buy 1, get 1 50% off offer. I couldn’t believe that their offer included mix and match books, movies, music, wall art, kitchen items, even jewelry! I picked out 3 DVDs that we could watch on family movie night. I usually find lots of good movies in Family Christian, and our family loves nothing better than to settle in with a huge bowl of popcorn and watch a movie together. For my picks, I found The Last Ounce of Courage, Heaven is Waiting, and Squad 77. I love being able to choose from such a large collection of faith based movies. We already watched Last Ounce of courage last night- I wonder what they’ll pick for tonight!
I love browsing the 5 dollar tables in Family Christian. I’ve bought a lot of movies, books, cds, and other items. This time, I found a cute t-shirt. 5 dollars? Really? Yes, really!
I have spent many hours in the children’s section- it never ceases to please! From Veggietales gifts and CDs to first Bibles, Family Christian has a lot to choose from. This time, we decided to check out the shiny, dangling pretties in the jewelry department. My kidlet found her first cross and I was excited to see her choose something that would publicly display her faith! Since the BOGO included jewelry, I let her choose a second necklace, this one an anchor. She loves anchors and we’ve talked about how Jesus is the anchor in our lives. She has a wonderful sense of style and she couldn’t wait for me to pay for her necklaces so she could wear them.
The staff at Family Christian are like family to me. They have such upbeat attitudes and I love chatting about movies, music, whatever we find in common. It’s easy because we all have one very important thing in common- our faith in Christ. I can’t think of another store where they would openly and actively offer prayer to their customers.
After my bounty was rung up and paid for, Erica (the cashier) asked if I would join with everyone at Family Christian in praying for the children in the Congo. She gave me a slip of paper with a reminder of what we are praying for. My kidlet was amazed that a store would do that. This is faith in action!
I’m so thankful that we have a store that cares for everyone as if they were the most important people in the world. And I love being able to share that experience with my grand daughter. Family Christian, you rock!
