Bob’s Red Mill Muesli Review

Bob's Red Mill Muesli 1

I love this product, especially the Tropical Muesli! I tried eating it as cereal which was delicious. Each bite was an adventure because sometimes it tasted of coconut and sometimes it tasted of different flavors of strawberry or mango. Or I’d get a bite with macadamia or a pumpkin seed in it. I loved every bite!

I made Oatmeal Raisin Cookies a couple of days before my get together and when I was about to spoon out the last cookies onto the sheet pan, I had a light bulb moment and added the Tropical Muesli to the cookie dough. I baked the cookies for the same length of time and they came out delicious! Everyone raved about them! Nobody knew what I had done until after they had tasted them- then I confessed my trick! Now we have a new favorite cookie recipe!

For our tasting, I used little cups of Muesli on a tray so that everyone could sample either or both kinds. Most people had not heard of Muesli but knew how to make oatmeal. I love that one serving contains 16 grams of whole grains, with only four grams of sugar per serving. I explained that it could be eaten hot or cold, even made as “Overnight Muesli”, as well as used in recipes. I shared the cookies and they went over well. I have a couple of moms who have gluten free homes and they were happy to see that this was a gluten free, natural and organic product. I gave out extra bags of muesli to guests who wanted to try it out right away and everyone was glad to get coupons. This was such a success- but then, Bob’s Red Mill products have always been a success whenever I have tried them.

Bobs Red Mill Muesli can be found in many stores as well as ordered through their online store here:

Ozeri Serafino Double Wall Insulated Beverage and Coffee Glasses, set of four 8 oz. glasses

I got a set of four 8 oz. Serafino Double Wall Insulated Beverage and Coffee Glasses from Ozeri and I am really loving them. They are double walled, heat and condensation resistant, and made from borosilicate. They are strong but feel elegant in my hand. plus it protects your fingers from extreme temperatures.

Serafino Double Wall Insulated Beverage and Coffee Glasses from Ozeri don’t get condensation on them when left on the table, so no rings to worry about. And your fingers won’t get burnt from holding a cup of hot liquids either. They are designed to use with either hot or cold liquids. The double walled design makes them able to hold the temperature of the liquid for longer periods without affecting the outside of the glass.

They are microwave and freezer safe and look nice on any table. They look and feel more like a nice wine glass than a drinking glass. There’s just a very elegant feel to them. They are made from Borosilicate, which is stronger than typical glass but I would caution you against banging them or dropping ice cubes into them, in case they shatter. As with any Ozeri product, they come with a No-Hassle Guarantee.

Ozeri Moderna Artisan Series Double Wall Beverage Glasses

I got a set of four 8 oz  Moderna Artisan Series Double Wall Beverage Glasses from Ozeri and I’m totally loving these glasses. I got the Serafino glasses first and really liked them. The shape is very unique and they are double walled to keep liquids from changing temperature based on the outside temperature. The Moderna Series has the added benefit of mouth-blown dimples that make each glass fit comfortably in your hand. I broke my hand last year and have not been able to hold a glass very well, especially if it’s full. But these glasses fit perfectly to my hand. I love that these glasses don’t get condensation when sitting with cold liquids. Hot liquids won’t burn my fingers either because of that double walled protection.

The Moderna Artisan Series Double Wall Beverage Glasses from Ozeri are sleek and stylish, fully functional and completely microwave and freezer safe. That being said, I have read that there are some people who have had issues because of dropping ice cubes into their glass or rapping it against something, causing it to shatter. These glasses have a vacuum in them from having two walls with air in between them. There are some incidents where the glass can break, so it’s best to use caution as you would with any glass product. At any rate, Ozeri stands behind their product and offers a No-hassle Warranty on their Moderna Artisan Series Double Wall Beverage Glasses, Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Detangling Jewelry Hack

I was getting ready for church today and I had a necklace in mind that I wanted to wear. I opened the drawer that holds my jewelry and looked in the little pockets for the necklace, only to find that it had become entangled with other necklaces and chains in the same pocket. I struggled for a few minutes trying in vain to detangle to mess, only to eventually have to give up and select a different necklace and hurry on my way.

I had heard that you could use baby powder to help with detangling knots in chains so I thought it might help with this proble as well. I got a plate with an edge and my container of baby powder and sprinkled the powder liberally over the knotted chains. I moved them around in the powder  so that they were all coated, then used a long pin to gently pull on them to ease them apart. This requires a little patience and good eyesight to accomplish the task. It took me about 5 minutes to detangle the knot and straighten out all of the chains- 2 of which had knots in them as well. I then gave them all a gentle cleaning and separated them for storage in the jewelry drawer. Task accomplished.

Girl of Stone by Norma Hinkens

Girl of Stone

I just finished the book Girl of Stone by Norma Hinkens and it was every bit as good as the first book in the series, Girl of Fire (The Expulsion Project Book 1).

Ms Hinkens has a flair for setting a scene that draws you in as though you were sitting right in the middle of the action, every bit a part of what is going on. Her style is very easy to read and very hard to put down. Many times I found myself saying “Oh gosh, is it 3:00 AM already?” The characters, Trattora and Velkan, are believable and sometimes show their vulnerability, reminding me of what had brought them to where they are now. I hate to say too much in case you haven’t already read the first book. If you haven’t, definitely read it first! Then grab this one! Then you’re stuck along with the rest of us until Norma gets done with Girl of Blood, the final installment in the Espulsion Project Series. I sure hope she’s got something in the works for us once that’s been released. She can’t crank them out fast enough for me!

Ozeri BP5K Digital Blood Pressure Monitor

My husband has been dealing with cancer and its after effects for almost 5 years now. One thing he does on a daily basis is to take his blood pressure. He has to take meds to control it and the way they work, one med keeps the blood pressure up while the other med keeps the heart rate down. He can tell if his numbers are off at all and he keeps track of his numbers in case he has to let the doctor know of a situation. We’ve used a regular cuff Blood pressure monitor for a number of years but I used a wrist style monitor at the doctor’s office and decided we should give that a try. I got the Ozeri BP5K Digital Blood Pressure Monitor with Voice-Guided Positioning and Hypertension Indicator. It comes with a hard case to keep it in and a small booklet with directions for usage.

The wrist cuff is easy to slip on any wrist and the monitor is voice guided, so it tells you what is going on. For instance, when you turn it on, it lets you know when to move your arm and what position to put it in. If it isn’t placed right you are notified and asked to reposition it. This takes a bit of patience and learning to get this down correctly. If you don’t position your arm correctly you won’t get a good reading. The voice portion is clear and loud and is accompanied by large, backlit numerical readings. It gives you enough time to read the numbers before going dark. It also stores the numbers, which is handy for reporting to your doctor. It can tell you if you have dangerous levels that could indicate hypertension or arrhythmia.

The Ozeri BP5K Digital Blood Pressure Monitor  takes some practice to get accurate readings so I would not suggest depending on it solely until you are quite comfortable with it. Other than that, it’s a very well made and nice  looking unit with great visibility, which I really liked!

Simply Earth’s April Subscription Box with Spring Cleaning

Simply Earth April Box

simply earth Products has graciously sent me their April box for review. I have been trying out all of the goodies they included in the box and I am really enjoying getting to know their products. First of all, let me say I was very impressed with their packaging. I have been sent products before only to have them arrive with oil all over the inside of the box. Sometimes the droppers are broken or cracked, etc. All of these things are easily avoided by taking the time to provide good packaging. This is something that was very obvious right from the start when I opened the package. Everything was well protected and each bottle was kept in place by a double walled slot of its own.

Simply Earth April Box 2

simply earth offers a number of different products to choose from, depending on your needs and your budget. You can choose anything from single bottles of oils, or prepackaged sets, oil blends, sprays, roller bottles, diffusers, and much, much more. Their selection of oils is top notch and they not only have 100% pure products but they have great pricing on their products.

simply earth offers a monthly subscription box called the Essential Oil Recipe Box. I received the April Box, which was titled Spring Cleaning. All of the oils and recipes in the box reflected the subject. The box included:

Lemon Essential Oil

Balsam Fir Essential Oil

Cinnamon Essential Oil

Tea Tree Essential Oil

2 spray bottles (Not 4 as pictured)

window microfiber cloth

cleaning microfiber cloth

a set of recipe cards and labels

simply earth makes it super simple to learn about oils and how to use them. They even send recipe cards for the oils in your kit so you can learn to blend them and make your own sprays, balms, etc. They give you everything you need to use your oils, including the bottles, cloths, even the labels! And you choose which plan works best for you.

Get 5-7 recipes and 4 essential oils + extras for the price of one bottle from the big guys.

Murder at Sea of Passenger X by Anna Celeste Burke

Murder at Sea of Passenger X by Anna Celeste Burke

Murder at Sea of Passenger X

by Anna Celeste Burke

Anna Celeste Burke has done it again! This time Georgie Shaw and her hunky new husband Detective Jack Wheeler go away for a much needed honeymoon on Marvelous Marley World’s luxurious cruise ship, the MMW Fantasy of the Sea. A relaxing cruise in the South Seas, with sun, sand, a little pampering, and a man overboard. Wait, who said anything about a man overboard? Did he fall or was he helped overboard? And who is the man who is lying in a pool of blood right there where the unlucky man fell overboard? How many more bodies will be found before the end of the cruise? And what does the missing man have to do with jewels that were reported missing? Are Georgie and Jack getting too close to the truth? This book is a lot of fun and the author pens a lot of realistic details about being on a cruise ship. Her attention to details make the story believable and that makes it so much more fun to read. And there’s even a special recipe included to add to the enjoyment. I’d surely recommend this book! It’s a great read!

Ahava’s Softening Butter Dead Sea Salt Scrub

I tried a new product the other day, and I love it! It’s Ahava’s Softening Butter Salt Scrub. It’s a thick, buttery- textured cream with small granules of sugar that scrub dirt and debris away gently without irritating my tender, sensitive skin. I have had so many issues with scrubs made from apricot pits etc. that just felt like they were tearing at my skin. Not so with this scrub. It is much more gentle. The cream isn’t loaded with granules- as a matter of fact, I was surprised that it had so little in it. But it really had plenty when I went to use it. I tried it out on my hand at first to see if it was going to be too harsh and it made my skin soft and supple. This lasted for hours. I actually kept putting my hand up to my face to feel how soft it was. This product comes in a 8 ounce tub which is enough for quite a few treatments. It is a little spendy but the quality more than makes up for it in my opinion.
